Green Economy in Morocco
Policymakers that looking at reforming towards the green economy face different challenges. The process should be accompanied by continuous and inclusive communication and dialogue on the green economy.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Following, the United Nations Environment Programme, green economy can be defined as one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks ecological scarcities, wellbeing, and health. In its simplest expression, a green economy can be thought of as one which is low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive. Practically speaking, a green economy is one whose growth in income and employment is driven by public and private investments that reduce carbon emissions and pollution, enhance energy and resource efficiency, and prevent the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. These investments need to be catalyzed and supported by targeted public expenditure, policy reforms, and regulation changes.
The United Nation Economic Commission for North Africa provides a strategic goal involving partnership dynamics and intensified coordination of policies and initiatives for a green economy.
Transitioning to a green economy compliant with ecological balances and capable of opening new opportunities for wealth creation and sustainable jobs, has become part of a major objective of the new sustainable development strategies being pursued by some countries in North Africa, especially Morocco (read more inside the magazine).[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
